Roof shingles can become cracked, loose, or even blow off during storms. With HSS Sealant Tape, you can create a fast, strong, and waterproof temporary or long-term repair until full replacement is possible. The tape works on asphalt shingles, composite shingles, and similar roofing surfaces.

Follow these steps to restore a watertight seal:

1. Clean the Damaged Area

Remove dirt, dust, granules, leaves, and loose shingle pieces from the repair area.
If the shingle is cracked or partially lifted, gently lift it and remove debris from underneath as well.

A clean surface ensures the best adhesion.

2. Assess the Damage

Check if the shingle is cracked, punctured, curled, or missing completely.
HSS Sealant Tape can be used to seal cracks, bond lifted edges, or cover open areas where shingles are missing.

If the underlying roof deck is wet, let it dry fully before applying the tape.

3. Measure and Cut the Tape

Measure a piece of HSS Sealant Tape large enough to cover the damaged area with at least 1 inch (2–3 cm) overlap on all sides.
Cut the tape using scissors or a utility knife.

4. Peel Off the Backing

Remove the protective backing carefully.
Avoid touching the adhesive side to keep maximum bonding strength.

5. Apply the Tape to the Shingle

For cracked shingles, place the tape directly over the crack and press down firmly.
For lifted shingles, place the tape underneath the lifted edge and press the shingle back onto it.
For missing shingles, apply the tape directly over the exposed area of the roof deck, ensuring full coverage.

Smooth the tape from the center outward to eliminate air bubbles.

6. Press or Roll for Maximum Bond

Use firm hand pressure or a roller to activate the MicroSealant® adhesive.
Be sure all edges are fully sealed to prevent water intrusion during rain or snow.

7. Inspect the Repair

Check all edges and corners and press again if needed.
The seal is immediate, but giving the tape a few hours before heavy weather ensures the strongest result.
