Repairing a leaking RV roof with HSS Sealant Tape is one of the fastest and most reliable ways to restore a watertight surface. The tape bonds instantly to materials like EPDM, TPO, metal, fiberglass, and PVC, making it ideal for RV roof maintenance. Follow these steps for a durable, long-lasting repair:

1. Clean the Surface

Begin by thoroughly cleaning the affected area. Remove dirt, dust, debris, and old caulking or loose materials. Use a mild cleaner or RV roof cleaner, rinse, and let the surface dry completely.
A clean, dry surface ensures maximum adhesion.

2. Inspect and Prepare the Damage

Identify cracks, seams, or punctures causing the leak. If there are loose flakes or old sealant residue, scrape or sand them off to create a smooth bonding surface. Wipe away any remaining dust.

3. Measure and Cut the Tape

Roll out the HSS Sealant Tape and measure a piece that fully covers the damaged area with at least 1 inch (2–3 cm) overlap on all sides.
Cut the tape using scissors or a sharp utility knife.

4. Remove the Backing

Carefully peel off the protective backing. Avoid touching the adhesive side to keep the bonding strength intact.

5. Apply the Tape

Place the tape directly over the leak, starting at one edge and slowly working across the area. Smooth it down as you go to prevent air bubbles or wrinkles.
Ensure the tape conforms perfectly to the roof’s surface and contours.

6. Press or Roll for Maximum Seal

Apply firm pressure with your hand or a roller. This activates the MicroSealant® technology and ensures a long-lasting, waterproof bond.

7. Inspect the Edges

Check that the tape edges are fully adhered. Press them down again if necessary.
The seal is instant, but giving it a few hours before heavy rain yields optimal results.
